Luqma POS is cloud-based Android POS software that a UAE food truck can run for AED 149 per month on the Essential plan. It handles quick takeaway orders, modifiers, combos, 5% VAT receipts, KOT printing and shift reports. It needs a live internet connection and has no offline mode, so mobile data is a requirement for every shift, not an optional extra.
What a food truck actually needs
Space and time are short on a truck, so the setup should do a few things reliably.
Fast takeaway ordering
A touch-first cashier screen for a short menu, with sizes, extras and combos handled as modifiers.
Tickets for the person cooking
KOT printing is included in Essential. A separate KDS tablet is AED 40 a month if you have room for a screen.
VAT-ready sales records
5% VAT appears on receipts and in daily Z-reports. Registered businesses still need to file with the FTA themselves.
Sales visible from anywhere
The Luqma Owner App is included, so an owner can check sales during an event without standing at the truck.
Connectivity: plan this first
Luqma cannot take orders, send kitchen tickets or sync reports without internet. If a venue has weak coverage, the POS stops being useful until the connection returns. Before you commit:
- Use a dedicated 4G/5G router or SIM rather than a staff phone hotspot.
- Carry a backup connection on a second network for events and remote sites.
- Test signal at your usual pitches during a busy period, when networks are under most load.
If you regularly trade where mobile data is unreliable, choose a POS with an offline mode. We would rather tell you now than have you find out in a queue.
Hardware on a truck
Luqma runs on an Android tablet with an ESC/POS thermal receipt printer. The AED 2,499 Starter Kit bundles a tablet, counter stand, printer, cash drawer, menu setup, onboarding and three months of Essential. It was put together for a fixed counter, so check mounting, vibration, heat and your power supply for your own vehicle. We will go through your layout during the demo.
Card payments are recorded in Luqma as a payment type. Your card terminal comes from your bank or payment provider; confirm your provider and how it fits your workflow during the demo.
Pricing that suits a new or seasonal truck
Essential is AED 149 a month with no software setup fee. You can cancel anytime, effective at the end of the paid billing period, which limits your commitment while you test a concept. Software is priced per branch, so tell us how many trucks you run and we will confirm your quote. Hardware outside the Starter Kit is separate.
Luqma does not issue or manage trading permits. Check vehicle, location and event requirements with the relevant municipality, your licensing authority or the event organiser.
What Luqma does not do yet
Besides offline mode, direct delivery-app integrations are not live, so any Talabat, Careem, Noon Food, Deliveroo or Keeta orders are entered manually. We have not yet published a food truck customer story.
